This is a really good read and great advice..Especially for someone like myself who has NEVER been pulled over by the police. (scoff scoff...).

That is one of the best descriptions of a traffic court experience I've seen on the web. The pictures of people waiting in line are awesome!

There's a couple courts here in the Albany NY area that have a huge shortage of space, and they end up with crowded hallways, people waiting outside, and in one of them they wait in line on the stairwell. One of our local courts just put a TV in the town board room so people could sit there and watch what's going on in the courtroom.

Your post also shows the value of a traffic lawyer. The strategies you read about might work, and they might not. Challenging calibration can be good, but it's not as easy as you might think - you can do it with radar and lasers too.

And of course, things work differently in different states. You give a good description of traffic court in Los Angeles that probably applies to California generally. But every state does things in its own way.

Great post! I'm going to mention it on my blog.

Thank you. Of course my strategies might not apply in any state other than California. And by no means I am in the position to give any legal advice as you can probably understand. I just wanted to get the word out there to people who do not feel like fighting their ticket. Especially if they feel they were cited undeservingly.

It's about money. Cities and states acrue allot of revenue via tickets and the way to handle this is not to get mad, but to get even. Everyticket you receive is redeamable for one NOT Guilty verdict the next time you serve on a jury. You will never see the other eleven people again and it costs the state a fortune, definitely more than your ticket, to re-try the case. The lost revenue cuts into the raises the police receive and upgrades to equipment required to do the job. When you are on a jury you have more power than anyone else in the courtroom INCLUDING the judge.
Use that power.

Spread the word. I suspect the public is unaware of the power they hold. Don't count on the judge to explain it to you.

Anytime. I'd also say that your website was the most concise out the whole bunch of sites I'd checked.
On a slightly different note I am impressed how successful you are using TBWD. I tried it twice in the past writing pretty much what you did and lost both.

Wow! Great job on the article. This is the best unbiased article on speeding tickets that I've seen! There are no affiliate links or hype of any kind. The links to those websites were really useful. Thanks for writing it!

This is a really interesting read. US speeding tickets are so labour intensive. Here in the UK, everything is automated - you get flashed by a speed camera, a cop sees the picture, issues a Notice of intended Prosecution, if you admit guilt, you pay up pronto, get a fixed £60 fine, 3 points on your licence and that's it.
Many people don't contest speeding tickets because that's when it becomes a lot of work.
Plus, it's hard to suggest the camera didn't estimate your speed right. Usually thay have been correctly calibrated.

No matter how safely you drive, sometimes you just need to speed to get somewhere fast, whether you've got a real emergency or you're just running late. Or maybe you didn't notice that the speed limit was a little lower than in most neighborhoods and you got busted.
Imagine how much more relaxed you'll feel if you aren't always checking your rear-view mirror for the police officers?
No lawyers, no clinics, no services that end up being just pricey as your ticket. How is this possible?
