Brand New Additions to the Rider Community
written by sideout
Well, half way there actually. As I mentioned earlier three of my coworkers got infected with a motorcycle virus and decided to pass a riders course. So they successfully did last weekend. Passed the riders course tests with flying colors. The bigger question now is - how many of them will actually follow through and become riders.

Suspect number one - a female who’s fiancee is a rider. She has a street commute to the office. So traffic doesn’t take a huge toll on her all that much.
Suspect number two - a database admin. He has had some little riding experience in his early teen years. Also he has a fairly long freeway commute that implies sitting in traffic.
Suspect number three - a project manager. He has no prior riding experience but does have close friends who are riders. A big factor in play is his height and weight. He is pretty skinny and 5′4″ (160cm) tall. Therefore very limited to the choice of beginner level motorcycles.
When I took my riders course and actually when I took my first scuba diving course I was told that students are more inclined to continue with the sport if they purchase a motorcycle (or in case of scuba diving go on a dive trip) right after they graduate. The longer they postpone that the smaller their chances of getting involved in the sport become. I believe statistically speaking that is true. However my case is quite the opposite. I took my rider course over 2 years ago and had purchased my motorcycle only 3 months ago. I took my first scuba course over 3 years ago and really got into diving only about a year ago. And money was not the issue. It’s just there was always something else.
My personal case aside now I am curious who would be the first one out of the three to become a rider. What that means for them is to go and get the motorcycle rider license and buy a motorbike. My bets are on our database admin. He has the biggest incentive out of the three in my opinion. Tedious commute that is. A female colleague will come second. She is adventurous enough to follow through but still not in a hurry. And third comes our project manager. That would be my prediction. What do you think?

There’s nae way that Demon Overlord Stoafo, the man that never dropped a drum beat after 1) puking on himself or 2)when a Marshall half cab dropped on his head, would ever get beaten into biking by a DBA or a Chick ?
I have it on great authority that El Stoafo is currently working with Todd Eagan, ex Pro Thunder AMA Racer and Cycle World Journalist to find the right bike.
