When I started riding in the early fall of 2007 the weather wasn’t cold and winds were mild. A couple of months later I was freezing to death in my jeans that also offered absolutely no protection in case of a fall. I had to buy motorcycle pants.

Ever since I got my Rev’it Airforce jacket and the Freestyle boots I got to love the Rev’it products - stylish and practical with a European flavor. Of course I wanted my pants to be of that brand as well. “Coincidentally” Motodisiac owned a pair of Rev’it Ultimate pants. He’d highly recommended them and I ended up buying them in the end of November 2007.

The pants have two removable liners. Starting from the inside out, a thick insulating liner attaches using full-length zippers in the waist and at the cuffs. Due to the zippers the liner hold in place perfectly.

The second liner, the Rev’it Hydratex membrane, is in between the thermal liner and the outer shell. Hyrdatex is claimed 100% waterproof and is designed to let water vapor (from perspiration) out, but keep rain water droplets from entering through the liner. It is composed of three layers of fabric; a top layer, the Hyrdratex membrane itself and a lining.

It’s been 2 months and I am yet to use the waterproof liner. But the thermal liner has been doing its job perfectly. It had protected me well from the chilling winds and cold temperatures when I was riding back home on my new Aprilia as well as just during my daily somewhat brisk morning commute.

The pants have 2 side and 2 mid-thigh side pockets that are really easy to access and big enough to fit a wallet, cell phone and a set of keys.

One of the best and unfortunately not used features of these pants are a full-length and short internal zipper for attachment to Rev’it jackets. Unfortunately my winter jacket is not Rev’it (yet). So I can’t fully utilize this very nice feature.

All in all it is a good bang for a buck and a nice addition to your motorcycle gear. Something definitely worth considering …
