Racing War

With the McLaren - Ferrari espionage scandal at full swing, there has been a lot of discussions about the legality of McLaren actions. FIA ruled that they were illegal, penalising them for $100 million. Is this fair? In racing teams focus on perfecting theirテつ equipment to the absolute limit, and in my opinion anything works. It’s no secret that teams are stydying each other’s cars and bikesテつ down to miniscule details, recording the engine noise just to figure out competitors mapping and doing everything they can to get more information on competition’s equipment and tactics. Just like in any war there is desinformation, spies, intelligence, even moles and defectors. As long as racing if fair and the machinery complies with the rules it should be OK. It is Ferrari’s problem that they had a leak and valuable information got to McLaren. It’s war out there, and theテつ one who can outsmart competitionテつ wins.

  1. As always, it’s ok to spy as long as you don’t get caught.
In the case of McLaren, everything was way too obvious for the FIA not to do anything.

That being said, even with all the info they had, the guys at McLaren still had to come up with a good car, and someone still had to drive this car to the limit…

Maybe Ferrari planned this since the beginning, who knows… those dirty Italians…
